What can someone with a BA/MA/PhD expect to earn in this job?

A master’s degree is a minimum requirement for my job. Someone fresh out of grad school can expect to make $40,000 a year. A PhD is not necessary for this field and in some cases can be a hindrance to obtaining a job. Salaries range greatly depending on location and the size of your company, from $40,000-$100,000, although typically you would cap out around $75,000.

For salaried employees, you are eligible for health insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, 401K, and other such benefits.

What does a typical workday look like for you?

I spend about half of my time in the office writing reports and doing background research and the other half traveling around the region doing fieldwork.

What do you like the most about your job?

I love being able to help protect and preserve archaeological sites.

What do you like the least about your job?

Dealing with uninformed public and landowners.
